Panofsky Erwin Books
Erwin Panofsky was a German art historian whose academic career was primarily pursued in the U.S. following the rise of the Nazi regime. His work remains highly influential in the modern academic study of iconography, with many of his studies on Renaissance art and Albrecht Dürer still in print. Panofsky's approach significantly influenced the theory of taste developed by French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, who notably adapted his concept of habitus from Panofsky's work on Gothic architecture and scholasticism.
