From Erewash to Radegund records a young man's life from a Midland mining village through elementary school, a school in a big city, wartime in the Erewash Valley, post-war military service, and finally a great university and the search for a career. It is a book about social mobility in the last industrial age, describing some ordinary and extra-ordinary people and how they saw the world, and discussing the stages by which we all grow up, as well as why certain things stick in our minds. John Rimington's career was in central government. He retired in 1995 as a Permanent Secretary.
