Rev. Elwood Morris Wherry dedicated forty years of his life to missionary work in India. A keen scholar of Islam and an ecumenist, he focused significantly on apologetics, or the defense of Christian beliefs in relation to Muslim thought. His extensive work contributed to the understanding and dialogue between Christian and Islamic traditions.
