Exploring the Tampico-Misantla Basin, this systematic study focuses on benthic foraminifera found in the Miocene Escolín Formation sediments. It highlights the basin's historical significance in oil production, having begun exploration in the 1860s and contributing significantly to Mexico's crude oil equivalent reserves by 2018. The research includes detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations of representative species, enhancing understanding of this crucial sedimentary environment in Veracruz State, Mexico.

The study focuses on the biology and reproduction of the mysid Amathimysis trigibba, highlighting its restricted distribution to shallower areas and peak abundance from October to March. Ovigerous females averaged 2.76 mm in length, while males were slightly larger at 3.04 mm. The sex ratio favored females significantly at 3.8:1, with fecundity ranging from 1 to 11 embryos, averaging 5.26. Four marsupial development stages were identified, showing low mortality rates and no significant correlation between female size and fecundity.
