Richard Theodore Ely

    Richard Theodore Ely was an American economist and author who championed increased government intervention to address the perceived injustices of capitalism. His advocacy focused on improving factory conditions, advocating for compulsory education, and tackling issues surrounding child labor and labor unions. Ely is prominently remembered as a founding figure and the first secretary of the American Economic Association.
