Davy Crockett

This celebrated 19th-century American folk hero was also a frontiersman, soldier, and politician who embodied the spirit of the American frontier. He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives and fought in the Texas Revolution, where he died at the Battle of the Alamo. Though popularly known as Davy Crockett, he exclusively referred to himself as David, shunning the sensationalism of his legend.
