Robert Mudie

Robert Mudie was a Scottish author and newspaper editor whose work is characterized by observational social satire. Largely self-educated, Mudie's writing often reflects his interest in reform and his critiques of the society of his time. His sole novel, set in a fictional Scottish community, has been compared to the gentle social satires of his contemporaries. Beyond fiction, he also served as an editor and contributor to newspapers and periodicals, engaging with current events and societal issues.
