Edward Ellis Morris

    Edward Ellis Morris was an English historian and lexicographer who spent much of his life in colonial Australia. Educated at Rugby School and Lincoln College, Oxford, he emigrated to Australia to lead the Melbourne Church of England grammar school. He also pursued an academic career at the University of Melbourne, becoming a professor of modern languages and literature. His most significant contribution is the extensive and valuable dictionary, Austral English: A Dictionary Of Australasian Words, Phrases And Usages.
