A newspaper photograph of Luella Frazier's release from prison jars the memory and pricks the conscience of a young investigative reporter. James Price and his wife, Donna, believe that Luella's 12 year sentence was excessive and due, in part, to James's withholding of information at the time of her trial. To assuage his guilt, James seeks to reunite Luella with her psychologically damaged daughter.
