After the 1839 fire, a significant number of pieces were fraudulently taken from the Royal Armoury of Madrid and sold in London, eventually reaching collections in places as distant as Rome and New York. It is likely that many important collections contain items from this treasure house established by the Kings of Spain. To support my research, I have consulted numerous authorities and acknowledge my indebtedness to the works of Meyrick, Hewitt, Demmin, Lacombe, and Clephan, as well as the writings of Baron Davillier and Don Juan Riano. Additionally, I am grateful for the Iconografia Espanola by Don V. Carderera and the insights from Dr. Wendelin Boheim of the Imperial Armoury in Vienna. Special thanks are due to Mr. E. B. d'Auvergne for his expert assistance, which has been invaluable in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of this compilation. Forgotten Books, the publisher, specializes in reproducing rare and classic works, utilizing advanced technology to digitally reconstruct texts while preserving their original format.
