Jidi Majia (1961) je básníkem píšícím čínsky, kulturně však vychází z osobitého světa, který se také díky geografické izolaci sinizaci po staletí úspěšně bránil. Jidi Majia je Nuosu, příslušník etnika, jejichž totemovým zvířetem je orel, etnika obývajícího rozsáhlé převážně horské území tzv. Chladných hor na jihozápadě Číny, oblast, jež sousedí na severovýchodě s chanskou Říší středu a na jihozápadě s Tibetem. Nuosuové mají dodnes vlastní jazyk a písmo, jsou hrdí na své mýty, víru i hrdinskou minulost nezávislých kmenů. Nositeli kultury jsou takzvaní bimové, vzdělaní šamani, znalci starého jazyka a klasických spisů, rádci ve všech důležitých záležitostech a hlavně v otázkách života a smrti.
