Amos Alfred Fries was a general in the United States Army and an 1898 graduate of the United States Military Academy. Fries served as the second chief of the army's Chemical Warfare Service, established during World War I. After retiring from the Army in 1929, Fries penned two anti-communist books reflecting his convictions. His later writing focused on warnings against the perils of communism.
