A Breeze Of Honor is a story about a young Virginian couple whose dream in life is to realize their own southern plantation. During the pre Civil War era a rainbow of happiness shines upon the Oakes family. Amidst the blossoming of flowers the sharing of warm memories unfolds in the brightness of a secure future. However the darkening clouds of secession are giving rise to a forming storm.Eventually torrential rains bring forth the thunderous clash between the Blue and the Gray. The emphasis of this novel is not in the lightning unleashed by the marching armies. Rather, the portrayal reflects the intense struggle of the Oakes family to survive the onslaught. Therefore the focus concentrates upon the depth of personalities and their response to an immense tragedy. Particularly, through a young Jubal Oakes who as a Confederate officer takes the fight to an enemy bent upon destroying the family plantation. Both realism and an educational interest are enhanced by a backdrop of actual historical events. Although the personal story is fictional the catastrophic suffering of people caught up in war is vividly true.
