Ludvig Holberg is regarded as the founder of modern Danish and Norwegian literature. His works, influenced by Humanism, the Enlightenment, and the Baroque, encompass essays, philosophical reflections, historical treatises, and plays. He is best known for the comedies he penned for the theatre in Copenhagen in the 1720s, which continue to showcase his distinctive style and wit.
