Lawrence Gowing

    April 21, 1918 – February 5, 1991

    Initially celebrated as a portrait and landscape painter, this English artist and writer expanded his influence significantly into art education, writing, and curatorship. His engagement with art history was largely self-taught, fostering a unique perspective. He later served as Principal of the esteemed Slade School of Fine Art, leaving a notable mark on the art world.
