Erich Kästner

    February 23, 1899 – July 29, 1974

    This German author, poet, and satirist is celebrated for his humorous and socially astute poetry and children's literature. Despite his staunch pacifist and democratic stance, he was expelled from the national writers' guild during the Nazi era, with many of his books publicly burned. Today, he is widely regarded as one of Germany's most prolific and beloved children's book authors, known for his witty insights and deep understanding of human nature.
