      Marchesi Antinori

      an Italian wine dynasty

Marchesi Antinori are a Florentine wine family and at the same time one of the most innovative and important wine dynasties of the world. Their wines fascinate enthusiasts and connoisseurs on all continents. Wine icons like Tignanello and Solaia have their origin in the singular way in which the house of Antinori sees its role in wine culture. This interpretation also manifests itself in their excellent everyday wines. This lavishly produced volume provides a meticulous account of the history of the Marchesi Antinori along the centuries. It describes in painstaking detail all their major wine estates in and outside Italy. A noteworthy feature is the tastings, which were exclusively arranged for this book: they represent an impressive documentation of the passion of the Antinori family for its wines. A most enthralling wine book, which on 240 entertaining and informative pages with many impressive illustrations acknowledges the endeavours, work and achievements of the Marchesi Antinori.

Forewords by Ruairí Quinn, Minister for Education and Skills, and Busso von Alvensleben, German Ambassador to Ireland (2009–2011), introduce the exploration of cultural policy and connections between Ireland and Germany over the past fifty years. The introduction by Joachim Fischer and Rolf Stehle sets the stage for discussions on literature, cultural policy within the EU, and the role of the Goethe-Institut in Ireland. The first section examines European literature, highlighting the competition between American and European narratives. Subsequent contributions address EU cultural policy amidst globalization, the experiences of the European Cultural Foundation, and the significance of national cultural institutes within the EUNIC framework. The second section focuses on Irish-German cultural connections, detailing the impact of the Goethe-Institut on Irish culture from 1961 to 2011, and exploring language policy, economic ties, and educational strategies in Ireland. The future of German studies in Ireland is discussed in the third section, with reflections on the role of the DAAD and the importance of integrating the arts. Finally, selected projects from the Goethe-Institut showcase artistic endeavors and research that highlight shared cultural experiences, emphasizing the ongoing dialogue between Ireland and Germany.

"After an amazing abundance of colours and form in the 1960s, high-quality wall covers were increasingly substituted by the ubiquitous woodchip paper. In the meantime, though, wallpaper has evolved into one of the trend topics in materials. Traditional manufacturers are now employing renowned designers to create new patterns which are clearly inspired by current trends or even evolve into trend setters of their own right. This book explores wallpaper designs by individual designers and studios around the world. Patterns and textures are brought to life through a vast array of full-colour illustrations throughout."--Publisher description.
