Béla Bartók

    March 25, 1881 – September 26, 1945

Béla Bartók, a Hungarian composer and pianist, was a pioneer of ethnomusicology, passionately studying and incorporating old Magyar folk melodies into his own compositions. His music is deeply influenced by these folk traditions, as well as by the works of Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, and Johannes Brahms. Bartók's work, often in collaboration with his lifelong friend Zoltán Kodály, explores the richness and complexity of traditional music, transforming it into a unique and timeless compositional language. His legacy lies in his innovative approach to blending folk sounds with modern musical forms.
