Chögyam Trungpa Biography
March 5, 1939 – April 4, 1987
Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche was a Buddhist meditation master, scholar, poet, and artist who played a pivotal role in bringing Tibetan Buddhism to the West. A proponent of the non-sectarian 'rimay' movement, he sought to unify valuable teachings from various Buddhist traditions. His approach, often stripped of ethnic trappings, led to the founding of Naropa University and the Shambhala Training method. Transitioning from monastic life to a lay teacher, he authored over a dozen books on the spiritual path, leaving a legacy continued through his son and the organizations he established.
