This is the story of a little computer thrown away and replaced by a new model. Cold, lonely and lifeless—the computer ‘Chippie’ is rescued by two children. One stormy night, Chippie magically comes to life when struck by lightning. Feeding on words like courage, bravery and kindness that the children have keyed into his memory, Chippie helps his new friends Sophie and Jack reunite their parents at Christmas. Chippie’s hard disk is full of useful information. He finds a cure for a rare illness the children’s mother has. Chippie also educates Sophie while facing certain destruction. His ‘life clock’ is in danger of going wrong as the end of the century approaches. So the little computer begins the biggest challenge of his short life:Will he survive the Millennium Bug?
