Der österreichische Künstler Christian Ludwig (*1940 in Pressburg) wuchs unter anderem am Attersee auf und übernahm diesen Orts- in seinen Künstlernamen. Mit kritisch-skurrilen Bildern zur Warenwelt der sechziger Jahre bekannt geworden, nahm Attersee als eine der Gründerfiguren der Neuen Malerei 1977 an der documenta 6 Teil und vertrat sein Land 1984 auf der Biennale von Venedig. Der Künstler ist auch als Designer, Musiker und Schriftsteller aktiv und lebt und arbeitet in Wien und in Spanien Die Monografie zeichnet anhand einiger bedeutender Beispiele Attersees künstlerische Entwicklung nach.
