«Erinnerungen an Wien» von Fritz Lang erschien 2012 als zweiter Band der Viennale Edition THE USEFUL BOOK anlässlich der großen Fritz Lang-Retrospektive, zusätzlich zum klassischen Katalog. Fritz Lang hatte 1966 auf die schriftlichen Fragen zweier junger Pariser Filmkritiker bezüglich seiner Herkunft, seiner Jugendjahre und des Einflusses von Wien auf sein Werk mit einem langen, detaillierten Text geantwortet. Diese, in deutscher Sprache verfassten Antworten Langs waren später nur bruchstückhaft wiedergegeben oder zitiert, jedoch bisher niemals in ihrer Gesamtheit publiziert worden. Durch die Anregung und Unterstützung eines der beiden Kritiker, Bernard Eisenschitz, war es der Viennale möglich, diesen zum größten Teil unbekannten Text herauszugeben. Die «Erinnerungen an Wien» sind ein außergewöhnlich lebendiges, gefühlvolles und sehr aufschlussreiches Dokument über die tiefe Beziehung Langs zu seiner Geburtsstadt Wien.
