Bedřich Fučík

    January 4, 1900 – July 2, 1984

Bedřich Fučík was a lifelong editor and publisher dedicated to releasing quality literature irrespective of authors' political affiliations or life stories. His editorial work was characterized by its broad scope, encompassing works from both Catholic and Communist writers, and his curatorial taste extended to organizing the works of significant Czech literary figures. Despite facing political persecution, Fučík continued his editorial efforts in the samizdat movement, supporting the publication of literary works during times of oppression. His legacy lies in his uncompromising commitment to literary quality and his championing of diverse authorial voices.
