Wolf Rüdiger Heß

November 18, 1937 – October 24, 2001

Wolf Rüdiger Hess, son of Rudolf Hess, was an outspoken critic of the investigation into his father's death, which he believed was a cover-up. He maintained that the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) had murdered his father to prevent his parole, which he believed was imminent. Hess was convinced the British government feared his father would reveal embarrassing details about British actions during World War II if allowed to speak freely. However, documents published in 2007 demonstrated British support for Hess' release on humanitarian grounds, countering staunch Soviet opposition.
