William Francis Hillebrand Books
William Francis Hillebrand was an American chemist whose academic career was launched by his research into metallic cerium, which he first isolated in 1872 with Thomas Norton. He pursued his studies at Cornell University before earning his Ph.D. in 1875 from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Following his doctorate, Hillebrand spent two semesters working under the tutelage of Robert Bunsen.
