Information derived from cataract epidemiology studies is essential for the development of effective strategies to combat the advance of this major health care problem. This volume contains papers, selected from an international symposium on cataract epidemiology, which report the results of investigations into cataract prevalence and risk factors, address issues of current international concern in study methodology and cataract classification systems, and present recent basic research findings.
This volume of 'Developments in Ophthalmology' provides an extensive insight into current research on cataract epidemiology with a special emphasis on UV-related cataract risk assessment. In addition to substantial results of epidemiological studies from India, China, Australia (Melbourne), Korea, Bulgaria (Sofia) and Japan, the improvement and standardization of classification techniques in thoroughly discussed in order to be able to adequately convey and compare the different findings.
