    May 26, 1899 – February 19, 1990

Otto Neugebauer was a mathematician and historian of science renowned for his research into the history of astronomy and exact sciences across antiquity and the Middle Ages. Through his meticulous study of ancient clay tablets, he revealed a far greater understanding of mathematics and astronomy among the Babylonians than was previously appreciated. He has been lauded as "the most original and productive scholar of the history of the exact sciences, perhaps of the history of science, of our age."
