Designed specifically for international students in the English-language Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering, this three-volume textbook series provides tailored mathematical support. Each volume corresponds to a semester, accommodating the varied mathematics courses students may encounter. This structured approach ensures that learners have access to relevant material that aligns with their academic journey at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
This book gives an introduction on the modelling of linear systems, on simulation methods for solving the related model equations and on visualization techniques for the interpretation of the frequency analysis using the computer program Maple: Starting with the modelling of electric circuits that consist of R- (Resistors), L- (Inductors) or C- (Capacitors) we introduce a description to model any kind of circuits that consist of as many elements as necessary. We continue with the modelling of the time behavior the electrical systems. This is done by the setup of ordinary differential equations. With the help of Maple we solve these differential equations numerically in order to get the impulse response. Finally, we analyze systems by means of the frequency analysis. Using mathematical algorithms like FFT we identify the frequency behavior of the systems. Once again by visualizing the results we identify the relationship between frequency analysis and system theory: impulse signal, impulse response, transfer function, and system function.
"For over 25 years, Thomas G. West has been a leading advocate for the importance of visual thinking, visual technologies and the creative potential of individuals with dyslexia and other learning differences. In this new book, he investigates how different kinds of brains and different ways of thinking can help to make discoveries and solve problems in innovative and unexpected ways. West focuses on what he has learned over the years from a group of extraordinarily creative, intelligent, and interesting people -- those with dyslexia, Asperger's syndrome, and other different ways of thinking, learning, and working. He shows that such people can provide important insights missed by experts as they also can prevent institutional "group think." Based on first-person accounts, West tells stories that include a dyslexic paleontologist in Montana, a special effects tech who worked for Pink Floyd and Kiss and who is now an advocate for those with Asperger's syndrome, a group of dyslexic master code breakers in a British electronic intelligence organization, a Colorado livestock handling expert who has become a forceful advocate for those with autism and a family of dyslexics and visual thinkers in Britain that includes four winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics. He also discusses persistent controversies and the unfolding science. This is an inspiring book that not only documents the achievements of people with various learning differences, but reveals their great potential -- especially in a new digital age where traditional clerical and academic skills are less and less important while an ability to think in pictures and to understand patterns using high-level computer information visualizations is rapidly increasing in value in the global economic marketplace."--Publisher's website
This book is recognized as a classic in its field. It still stands alone as a compelling argument against popular myths of conventional intelligence and for the importance of visual thinking and visual technologies as powerful tools to aid and amplify the creative potential of many individuals with dyslexia or other learning difficulties.
Working with the underlying premise that America's founding principles continue to be vital in the modern era, Erler, Marini, and West take a conservative look at immigration, one of today's most pressing political issues. Character_the capacity to live a life befitting republican citizens_is, as the Founders knew, crucial to the debate about immigration. The Founders on Citizenship and Immigration seeks to revive the issue of republican character in the current immigration debate and to elucidate the constitutional foundations of American citizenship.
