Study of the historical development of the Levant in the light of three the growth and decline of urban settlements, the inimical rivalry between nomadic pastoralists and sedentary farmers, and finally the image of the Levant as the crossroads of cultures, through a case study of a single representative region, the Biqa Valley of Lebanon.
