    • Reliability engineering

      • 502 pages
      • 18 hours of reading

Reliability engineering is an evolving discipline focused on developing methods and tools to predict, evaluate, and demonstrate the reliability, maintainability, and availability of components, equipment, and systems. It supports development and production engineers in integrating reliability and maintainability into their work. To be effective, reliability engineering must align with quality assurance activities, adhering to Total Quality Management (TQM) and Concurrent Engineering principles. Early in the development phase, failure rate and failure mode analyses are essential, supported by design guidelines and extensive design reviews. Qualification tests on prototypes are necessary before production to ensure quality and reliability targets are met. During production, processes must be selected and monitored to maintain the required quality level, while also addressing availability requirements through stochastic processes and logistical support. Given the significant role of software, specific quality assurance activities are crucial. This text presents the state-of-the-art in reliability engineering, drawing from over 25 years of the author's experience, split between industry and academia as a Professor at the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich).

      • 520 pages
      • 19 hours of reading

Focusing on the critical aspects of reliability, maintainability, and safety, this book offers advanced methods for ensuring quality and reliability in the design and production of complex systems. Drawing from over 20 years of experience in both research and industry, it provides practical procedures that enhance cost-effectiveness and efficiency in quality assurance processes. The insights aim to equip professionals with the tools needed to meet high standards in equipment and systems development.

      Theory and Practice

      • 626 pages
      • 22 hours of reading

This book shows how to build in, evaluate, and demonstrate reliability and availability of components, equipment, systems. It presents the state-of-the-art of reliability engineering, both in theory and practice, and is based on the author's more than 30 years experience in this field, half in industry and half as Professor of Reliability Engineering at the ETH, Zurich. The structure of the book allows rapid access to practical results. This final edition extend and replace all previous editions. New are, in particular, a strategy to mitigate incomplete coverage, a comprehensive introduction to human reliability with design guidelines and new models, and a refinement of reliability allocation, design guidelines for maintainability, and concepts related to regenerative stochastic processes. The set of problems for homework has been extended. Methods & tools are given in a way that they can be tailored to cover different reliability requirement levels and be used for safety analysis. Because of the Appendices A6 - A8, the book is also self contained from a mathematical point of view, and can be used as a text book or as a desktop reference, with a large number of tables (60), figures (190), and examples (210 of which 70 as problems for homework) to support the practical aspects.

      Reliability Engineering
    • High reliability, maintanability, and safety are expected fro complex equipment and systems. This book presents state-of-the-art methods and procedures used for cost and time effective quality and reliability assurance during the design and production of equipment and systems. It is based on more than 20 years experience gained by the author in research and industry. The book covers theory, practice, and management aspects and addresses the needs of scientists, system-oriented engineers, engineers in development and production and project and quality assurance managers. The second edition has been completely updated revised and includes modern concepts such as Total Quality Management (TQM) and Concurrent Engineering.

    • Zuverlässigkeit von Geräten und Systemen

      • 381 pages
      • 14 hours of reading
