Workshop Environmental Education - Renewable Energies for Children and Youth
    • 2005

The significance of renewable energy sources is increasingly recognized globally, yet effective sustainable energy policies hinge on engaging children and young adults. Unfortunately, renewable energy and environmental education often receive inadequate attention in schools, homes, and the media. To address this, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment organized an international workshop in Berlin, inviting European stakeholders in environmental education, including NGOs, school boards, and teachers. The workshop showcased innovative European concepts and featured projects like Berlin school initiatives and the Polish Energy Bus, aimed at improving environmental education related to renewable energies. Held from May 18-20, 2005, and commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the event was coordinated by the Independent Institute of Environmental Concerns UfU e. V., alongside other organizations. Thirteen speakers from various European countries presented their projects and strategies, engaging nearly 70 participants in discussions on enhancing environmental education. The conference was broadcast live via Internet TV, with all presentations available as videos on demand on the ManagEnergy website.
