Monk's new book Studio Visit takes as its starting point a number of Richard Prince's publications. Visually similar to those iconic artist's books of the 1990s, this publication is also very different from them in many other ways. Jonathan Monk opens the door to his secret studio. For many years he has been considered an exemplary post-studio artist, working from a small desk, a computer, and a mobile phone. This publication reveals that he actually has a studio in the traditional sense of the word. A space in which he can be free, for a moment, to think about what is to be done ... and if it has been done already, never mind ... Published in the Christoph Keller Edition Series.

Die Publikation bietet eine umfassende Übersicht über die Ephemera, Publikationen und Editionen des Künstlers und gewährt einen tiefen Einblick in seine Ausstellungshistorie sowie seinen Umgang mit Printed Matter. Sie enthält detaillierte Werkabbildungen und eine archivarische Aufarbeitung. Die enge Freundschaft zwischen Jonathan Monk und der Sammlung Haubrok hat über die Jahre zu zahlreichen gemeinsamen Projekten und Ausstellungen geführt. In dieser Zeit fanden viele Künstlerbücher, Einladungskarten, Ausstellungsführer und Plakate des in Berlin lebenden Konzeptkünstlers mit britischen Wurzeln ihren Weg in die Sammlung. Die Publikation, die im Anschluss an eine Ausstellung der Haubrok Foundation in Berlin-Lichtenberg erscheint, ist eine Hommage an diese Freundschaft und Monks konzeptuelle Praxis im Umgang mit Ephemera und künstlerischen Artefakten. Sie bietet einen persönlich-archivarischen Überblick über Monks „Printed Matter“ in der Sammlung Haubrok, ergänzt durch einen Kommentar des Kunstpublizisten und -kritikers Raimar Stange. Jonathan Monk (*1969, Leicester) ist ein zeitgenössischer Konzeptkünstler, der sich mit Konzeptkunst und Minimalismus des 20. Jahrhunderts auseinandersetzt, diese neu interpretiert und oft mit verschiedenen Medien wie Fotografie, Bildhauerei, Video, Performance und Mail Art arbeitet.

This publication functions as a testament to the variety of innovation in the rediscovered chapter of Polish experimental filmmaking and art during the cold-war years. 1,2,3...Avant-Gardes represents an exhibition and research project dedicated to the history of experimental film and art, and to the interaction between these two fields. The juxtaposition between the work of renowned Polish avant-garde filmmakers and international contemporary artists is categorized into five themes: Analytical Strategies, Political Film, Sound and Image, Imagination, Games and Participation, and Consumption. The text contextualizes the films convincingly into these concepts which are reinforced with artists projects/pages. Contemporary contributors include The Bernadette Corporation, Matthew Buckingham, Judith Hopf and Katrin Pesch, Igor Krenz, Jonathan Monk, Jeroen de Rijke and Willem de Rooij, and Wilhelm Sasnal. Finally, the outstanding history of Polish avant-garde film is presented in an archive containing descriptions of more than thirty films produced between 1920 and 1970.
