Proceedings of the 3rd European Congress on Sign Language Research held in Hamburg, Germany in July 1989. The text begins with a series of papers devoted to the history of sign language and quickly turns to addressing various aspects of bilingualism, the importance of mouth patterns, a neuropsychological assessment of sign language, and the acquisition of sign language in terms of system linguistics.
