More about the book
Recounts the story of a group of Jews who survived the Holocaust by hiding in the sewers of Lvov for 14 months after the liquidation of the ghetto, from June 1943 to July 1944, aided only by a sewer worker, an ex-criminal, who threatened to abandon them if they ran out of money. Some committed suicide or died of exhaustion. Ten survived. Based on interviews and an unpublished written account by Ignacy Chiger, the leader of the group. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism)
