More about the book

The protection of the global environment has evolved into one of the most dynamic and important sectors of international law and world politics. Highly prominent among the various features of transboundary environmental damage is the pollution of the atmosphere: Several recent treaties have addressed this issue, dealing with the protection of the stratospheric ozone layer, climatic changes, acid rain, marine air pollution or the environmental effects of armed conflicts. This study explores the manifold legal aspects of the developing international law on the protection of the atmosphere, thereby paying particular attention to the situation and the special legal status of African, Asian and Latin American countries.
