More about the book

This book aims to introduce geostatistics from a multivariate perspective, a concept developed over ten years of teaching at the Centre de Geostatistique (Ecole des Mines de Paris) in postgraduate programs. Initial lecture notes in French emerged from this experience, leading to a specialized course on Multivariate and Exploratory Geostatistics in September 1993 in Paris, which was tested on a diverse audience. A significant opportunity to share early material occurred during a lecture on Spatial Statistics at the University of Washington, where an early version of this manuscript was distributed. Additional insights were shared in COMETT and TEMPUS courses on geostatistics for environmental studies in various European cities, sponsored by the European Community. The author expresses gratitude to participants for their engaging questions and comments, which enriched the learning experience. Special acknowledgment is given to the course organizers, including Georges Matheron, Pierre Chauvet, Margaret Armstrong, John Haslett, and Paul Sampson, for their support. Valuable feedback from Michel Grzebyk on Chapters 26 and 27, summarizing his contributions to the field, is also appreciated.
