When compared with today’s high-speed, multi-role combat aircraft, the fighting scouts and bombers of The Great War look almost comical in appearance. However, 80 years ago these machines were at the leading edge of technology, and the craftsmanship involved in their construction is still breathtaking today. The survivors of that era – Sopwith scouts, Fokker fighters, the rugged SPADs – are featured in this tribute to the combat aircraft of a bygone age.
