Part A deals with the general principles of technique, various fundamental musical aspects, as well as with the learning process itself. In Part B compositions from a range of countries and eras are investigated with regard to sty listic performance, including such points as registration and ornamentation. Since some of the musical examples which are quoted in the textbook are not available in reliable ed itions or are difficult to obtain, they have been edited and compiled in a volume of music.
