This book demonstrates the links between mental and physical fitness. Using practical examples, it shows the effects of physical training on mental fitness and performance. Simultaneously the reverse effect – the influence of brain training on understanding and carrying out exercises – is also clearly illustrated. A great number of exercise and game examples can be found in this book. These include both new ideas for inclusion in gymnastics and sports practice as well as familiar forms which – seen in relationship to their effect on mental fitness – give physical training a whole new dimension. The brain as the human control centre is somewhat demystified by an easily understandable theoretical section. Examples of practical exercises for planned brain training also show ways of mentally preparing oneself for complicated physical tasks.
