Catalogue of the genus Lejeunea Lib. (Hepaticae) of Latin America

More about the book

Lejeunea Lib. (Lejeuneaceae, Hepaticae) is a large pantropical genus with approximately 1700 described-species worldwide. Many of these are currently assigned to other genera or are synonyms. The present catalogue lists ca. 950 Lejeunea taxa described from Latin America with mention of the accepted name, countries of origin and bibliographic references. Based upon a screening of literature, only 165 species have remained in the genus Lejeunea. A brief history of Lejeunea and the state of knowledge of the genus in the New World are provided. This catalogue will serve as a basis for the revision of Lejeunea s. str. in the framework of Flora Neotropica.
