Die Ausgrabung "Lederergasse 1" in Regensburg (1982)

Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden ausgehend von den Befunden wichtige Erkenntnisse für die Stadtgeschichte erarbeitet, wobei auch ein römerzeitlicher Fundplatz festgestellt wurde. Die mittelalterliche Siedlung begann am Ende des 7. Jh. außerhalb der Stadtmauern. Weitere Nachweise fanden sich seit dem 12. Jh. für das Ledererhandwerk, für ein Schwitzbad sowie für eine Hafnerwerkstatt mit Blumenkeramik des späten 19. Jh. Im zweiten Teil der Untersuchung wurde die Veränderung der Regensburger Keramik anhand von Herstellungsweise, Ton und Magerung analysiert. Anfangs kommen handgeformte, glimmerarme Waren vor. Vom 9.-12. Jh. wurde stark goldglimmerhaltige Keramik hergestellt, die zunächst teilweise und später vollständig nachgedreht wurde, wobei zudem die Brennhärte anstieg. Parallel zur jüngsten Gruppe der Goldglimmerware tritt in der 2. Hälfte des 12. und Anfang des 13. Jhs. eine Ware mit Quarzmagerung auf. Aus dieser Quarzware entwickelte sich im 13. Jh. die erste echte Drehscheibenware. Für zwei Warenarten ließ sich der Import von außerhalb nachweisen. In the first part of the book, important insights into the city history are revealed on the basis of excavated features amongst which also a Roman site was localized. The Medieval settlement began in the late 7th century outside the city walls. Evidence for the workshops of tanners and leather workers was found from the 12th century onwards. There also existed a sweat bath and a potter´s workshop for pottery of the late 19th century decorated with flowers. In the second part of the study, the changes of the local pottery were analysed on the basis of production methods, clay and tempering. At the beginning, only hand-made wares poor in mica existed. From the 9th to 12th century pottery rich in gold mica was produced which was at first partially and later completely finished on the potter´s wheel. At the same time the firing temperatures increased continually. In the 2nd half of the 12th and early 13th century a pottery containing quartz occurred beside the latest form of the gold mica wares. Starting from this quartz ware, the first wheel-thrown pottery was developed in the 13th century For two other types of pottery it was possible to demonstrate that they had been imported from outside the city.
