More about the book

This volume features articles presented at The Intelligent Information Systems Symposium I1S'2000, held in Bystra, Poland, from June 12-16, 2000. Organized by the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, this marks the ninth symposium focused on emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence. The initiative began in 1992 with a small workshop aimed at showcasing results from Polish scientific centers and comparing them with research by Polish scientists in Europe and the USA. This concept gained popularity, leading to the evolution of workshops into regular symposia covering areas such as Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge-Based Systems, and Soft Computing, including Fuzzy and Rough Sets, Bayesian Networks, Neural Networks, and Evolutionary Algorithms. Typically, around 50 papers from researchers in Poland and beyond are presented. Additionally, the symposia have featured tutorials from leading experts in their fields. Previously, the proceedings were published locally and distributed among scientific libraries, but the quality and relevance of the papers now warrant a broader presentation to the international scientific community.
