Stochastic partial differential equations and surface growth

More about the book

In recent years literature on the mathematical treatment of partial differential equations involving a stochastic noise term has grown tremendously. The demand for that is partly driven by the huge potential of applicability in many fields. The application this book is focusing on is pattern formation. Particular examples are carried out for surface growth equations (molecular beam epitaxy) and spinodal decomposition for the Cahn-Hilliard model. Within these subjects the author gives several brand-new and genuine results, each of which contributing significantly to the new field of stochastic PDE. The brief, but appropriate, introduction to stochastic PDE at the beginning makes that book almost self-contained. It should therefore be accessible to readers as well, which are only marginally familiar with stochastic PDE.
