The present work contains a collection of 15 papaers presented at the 5th International Chrysophyte Symposium 27-31 July, 1999 in Edwardsville, Illinois, USA. This meeting was focused on systematic, ecological and molecular issues dealing with chrysophytes. Also algal groups beyond those of „mainline chrysophytes“ were presented.
