More about the book

Welcome to the second IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Multimedia (IEEE PCM 2001), held in Zhongguanchun, Beijing, China, from October 22 to 24, 2001. Building on the success of IEEE PCM 2000 in Sydney, this conference brought together researchers, developers, practitioners, and educators in the multimedia field across the Pacific region. The event showcased both theoretical advancements and practical systems, supported by various organizations, including the IEEE Circuit and Systems Society, IEEE Signal Processing Society, and Microsoft Research, China. The program featured keynote talks, regular presentations, posters, demos, and special sessions. Out of 244 submitted papers, 104 were accepted as regular papers, and 53 as poster presentations. Special sessions were organized by Shin'ichi Satoh and Mohan Kankanhalli. We extend our gratitude to the program committee members and paper reviewers for their dedication in reviewing submissions and providing constructive feedback. The success of the conference was made possible by the contributions of many individuals, including our honorary chairs: Prof. Sun Yuan Kung of Princeton University and Dr. Ya Qin Zhang of Microsoft Research China.
