More about the book

The last decade has seen significant advancements in software architecture research and practice, establishing it as an essential subdiscipline of software engineering. A critical element in designing any software system is its architecture, which encompasses the organization of components, their interrelations, and the guiding principles for design and evolution, as outlined in the IEEE Std 1471-2000. The First European Workshop on Software Architecture (EWSA 2004) served as a platform for researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to discuss various topics related to software architecture and collaboratively outline future research directions. The workshop categorized submissions into three types: research papers presenting novel findings, experience papers detailing real-world applications, and position papers offering concise arguments on specific software architecture topics. From 48 submissions across 16 countries, the Program Committee selected 19 papers—9 research, 4 experience, and 6 position papers. Each submission underwent a thorough review by three committee members, ensuring a high standard of quality and relevance in the discussions fostered at the workshop.
