More about the book

Our gratitude extends to colleagues at the VU University Medical Center and other hospitals for referring patients to us. While much from the previous prefaces remains relevant, significant advancements have occurred. There has been remarkable progress in magnetic resonance technology and in understanding the genetic defects, biochemical abnormalities, and cellular processes related to myelin disorders. This progress has led us to undertake the substantial task of rewriting the previous edition and adding 40 new chapters. Our aim is to comprehensively cover most white matter disorders, both hereditary and acquired, while providing a rich collection of images to illustrate the field. The contributions of many individuals at the VU University Medical Center have been invaluable in producing high-quality images and offering secretarial support. Their efforts are acknowledged separately. This edition strives to be more complete than its predecessors, reflecting the latest developments in the field.
