The Tibetan dialect of Lende (Kyirong)

More about the book
This book provides a grammatical description on the Tibetan dialect spoken in Kyirong county, situated in western Central Tibet, about 700 km south-west of Lhasa and 70 km north of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. More precisely, the variety described in this book is Lende valley west of Kyirong town, on the border of Nepal. Each section of the grammar is accompanied by a section offering historical annotations, which show the historical development of the dialect by comparing it with written Tibetan and, to a lesser extent, with darta of other Tibetan dialects. The grammatical description of the Kyirong dialect is then followed by an interlinearized and translated Tibetan folk narrative. Finally, an extensive glossary with indices is provided. Dr. Brigitte Huber spent about a year in Nepal collecting linguistic data and working mainly with Kyirong speakers who usually live in Kyirong itself
