A research on the Chinese regional economy

Authors

More about the book

Since the reform and opening up by the end of 1970s, the fast growing Chinese economy attracts increasingly more global attention. Although all regions experienced rapid economic growth in the last two decades, the growth rate in costal provinces from eastern China is obviously much higher than most provinces in western China. At present, the gradually widening regional gap in terms of economic development gradually becomes a big challenge for the country to sustain its economic growth and social stability. As a result, many scholars are engaged in researches on the reasons which lead to the regional disparities and how to reduce the inter-regional gap and balance the regional economic development throughout the country. This book contributes to the research from the perspective of SGP and Tourism. The first part of the book is about the research on the Stickiness of Gradient Process (SGP) which was initiated by the authors as the ultimate reasons for the long-run existence of the regional disparities in China. The second part of the book focuses on the study of the fast growing Chinese tourism industry, which plays an increasingly important role to stimulate the economic growth of the country while contribute largely on eliminating the regional disparities.
