More about the book

The Annual International Frontiers in Algorithmics Workshop focuses on current research trends in algorithms, discrete structures, and their applications. It aims to unite international experts at the forefront of these fields to exchange ideas and present significant new findings. The workshop's mission is to invigorate areas where algorithmics can play a pivotal role and to enhance connections between Eastern and Western algorithmics research communities. The Second International Frontiers in Algorithmics Workshop (FAW 2008) was held in Changsha, China, from June 19–21, 2008. In response to the Call for Papers, 80 submissions were received from 15 countries and regions, including Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the USA. After a thorough six-week review process, the Program Committee accepted 32 papers for presentation, organized into nine special focus tracks covering topics such as biomedical informatics, discrete structures, geometric information processing, games and incentive analysis, graph algorithms, internet algorithms and protocols, parameterized algorithms, heuristics design and analysis, approximate and online algorithms, and machine learning. The program also featured three keynote talks by Xiaotie Deng, John E. Hopcroft, and Milan Sonka.
